Grill Fish.. ala Salsabilaa..

Nur Salsabilaa a.k.a Kok Mee Lee is my schoolmate. We were in the same class since Form 3. She now lives in Singapore, have 2 girls and is juggling both work n home just like me. Recently, I came across one of her pictures in Facebook with a simple recipe of grill fish with eggy sauce..

On Saturday, after being jilted by friends who have last minute change of plans, Our family had a blast @ the international book fair in PWTC. (See, sometimes though things doesn't goes well as plan, there are still good in it  as long as you keep an open mind). I heard they have a wonderful time meeting up too!

After going through ocean of human @ the book fair, We went to The Mall, have a cuppa @ Starbucks and enjoy our fav Auntie Anne'e pretzels, I popped the fav question "What's for dinner??" and Yasmeen quickly replied "Chicken Chop!". Myself could not have any more chicken, I suddenly remembered Nur Salsabilaa's grill fish recipe.. I took pictures of the process and after getting the 'green light' from her.. I am proud to present to you......Grill Fish inspired by Nur Salsabilaa

I choose Dory fish fillet, no choice for brand.. its quite cheap as well RM9.99 at Cold Storage supermarket.
Seasoned with salt, pepper and a bit of turmeric powder for that golden colour...

I used a non stick pan, melt some butter and grill the fish. U know that the fish is done when there are no more frantic sizzles hehehe..

Then in the same pan, I melt more butter, put in 2 eggs and scrambled it.. I don't wanna overcooked it.. just nice to make a sauce.

Nur Salsabilaa used some pickled, a dash of vinegar and blend it with the eggs..

Put everything in the blender and with blend it well..

I gave it a bit of a twist.. I also added some pepper, some finely chopped onions and pickled.

I saute' some brocolli with carrots and fresh button mushrooms as the side dish..

Here's how tha dish looks like..

Thank you Nur Salsabilaa for sharing this and allowing me to blog it.. Its yummy..

The Verdict :-
Mr.Husband said he prefer my tangy home made tar-tar sauce which is just mayo mix with finely chopped pickled.. To me, the original recipe taste great... just personal preferences.. anyway.. try both sauce lah!

Good Deeds goes on no matter what.

People said that there will always be obstacles when 1 intend to do a good deed. Simply because the 'devil' doesn't want us to do good things.

Maybe its true but with great intention comes great challenges. I have been trying not to elaborate too much on what is happening but come a time I think others might have figured it out or might even have predicted it way before I took any action. It no longer about whether I should or should not but its more to I have to. I have to do something to at least protect those people who are sincere enough to lend a helping hand, people who do not know who I am trying to help (and never mind who) for as long as it is Liza Masrina Ibrahim's project and that basically is a TRUST,  I want to keep and I am accountable for.

I have done my level best to be transparent and I have done my best to ensure other people be as transparent as I want them to be but I must admit that whilst I have every intention to help a helpless 'life' I forgot to set a limit and proper guidelines before we even begin.

I will not know she needs help unless she make it clear to me or to my friends that she is in need of money. So, I hope the word 'I never ask for help' doesn't come out from her mouth by now. I can understand a mother's dilemma when handling a sick child what more with critical ilness. I can tolerate the ups and downs of her emotion and the stress she is facing but just because I am understanding enough doesn't mean that she can walk all over me.

I never ask for any recognition, I never ask for any word of thanks. What I ask for is just to be honest, transparent, accountable to the people who doesn't even know you @ first place but is willing to help you go through tough times. Just behave and be a real mother at least one who doesn't leave a critical child in care of other people while you go on a hideout @ a place even I as a good steady income person won't go for a holiday. Spend on luxurious unnecessary items after you portray yourself as being financially unstable for having to support a critically ill child.

I do not accept excuses as being bogged down with other personal problems and stress as being the reason for acting the way a mother or even a right thinking adult should NOT act or do. At least being the least thankful and grateful to others, acknowledging their good advice (though you might not be able to do what they suggested) is something any 'polite' person would do.

I have had enough of this and I think it has gone too far in preserving what is suppose to be preserved - "Positive Thoughts" for all of the commotion and all of the unnecessary remarks plus the reluctant to reveal what I was hoping to be transparent and truthful resulting in me revealing my part of the story so as to ensure that I have done my part in protecting the interest of people who came in for the sake of 'good deeds'. I do not want to be responsible if the person we have helped decided to make a wrong turn when the funds is no longer in my control.

This to me is just another hiccups along 'the road leading to the end' of everybody's life. When we do something it is only while realizing the mistakes that we learn to improve.

Just like any other things in life, every single things that has a beginning whether its bad or good must have an end. This is indeed the END of a Chapter... We shall open a new Chapter of 'Good deeds goes on no matter what' and hope it will have a loooooonnnggg good story to share before it finally comes to the end.

I believe, while you want people to sympathise, you must always remember that god's sympathy is greater than human. If you have hundreds even millions of test lying along your way, others have TOO. Its just that they don't tell that to the whole world and they at least would not say "WHY ME?".

Before I pen off, know that I do not have any intention to tarnish anybody's reputation as it might have been done by the person herself.

I have every reason to start (what I think is) something I should do for a good cause and I have every GOOD and VALID reason to disclose what I think is not right.

I do not wish to count what I have done, my contributions are nothing.. as I cannot do all this alone.. This particular person owes me NOTHING but she owes the people who have gone an extra mile, people who in need of help themselves but brush it aside to help her BIG TIME! And I wish to thank everyone who has spread the words, chip in big or small and most importantly people who have spare their time and contributed their effort in helping a helpless kid.

I shall pray that one day this person would realize what is the true meaning of motherhood and all the pain, struggle and challenges that this tiny little kid have gone through will not be in vain. I hope she will be loved and whatever that we have intended for her is being carried out properly.

Lasagna.. Ooh Lalla..

Yasmeen really loves western n Italian food.. Her all time fav is lasagne. She really enjoy what I cook for her.. every single day.. Breakfast, lunch n dinner!

Since I have to postpone my plan to make lasagne, I have set my mind to do it this morning before I go to work.. for the kid's lunch

This is how I do my lasagne:-

I have San Remo Instant lasagne sheets ( I do not know how others do it but I actually boil the sheets before I arrange it in my dish)

Minced Chicken or beef ( With a little oil, fry garlic till fragrant, put in the minced chicken, add some black pepper, mixed herbs (refer to my grill chicken chop recipe for pic) and cook till its well, COOK.)

White sauce [melt butter, add in 2 tbs of flour, stir, remove from heat, add in 2 cups of fresh milk, a bit of salt n pepper, bring to boil, when it thickens a bit, remove from heat n stir in some cheese (any cheese)]

I also use Prego spaghetti sauce as I have to chase the ticking clock u see.. (I will try and give you recipe for the base sauce for pizza n lasagne later la ha..)

Then here is the fun part, I start greasing my dish with little bit of oil. then I arrange my 1st lasagne sheet. Looks like this

1st sheets of lasagne
Then the prego spaghetti sauce n the minced chicken
With minced chicken

Then arrange next sheet of lasagne on top of that and this time pour in your white sauce.. and continue with the sheets and alternately arrange it with the spaghetti sauce + minced chicken n END with the white sauce.. depending on how many layers you have but the TOP part must be the white sauce n your cheese.. GENEROUS amount of cheese ya.. Here's how mine looks like..

and before I get it into the oven, I pour in more milk at the edges and corner of my lasagne dish.. let it soak a bit.. enough moisture is the key to your tender lasagne..

Oven bake @ 180 degree celcius till the top part turn brown... I like it brown n crispy just like this..

IF you have any other ways of doing it.. Please share.. I would love to try! Again.. Happy Cooking!

Super Fast, Super Easy- Mee Hailam

I was planning for a lasagna dinner yesterday. It was raining cats and dogs while I am still in the office and I borrowed a friend's umbrella so that I can hurry home to cook dinner.

What started as a plan remain a plan when I arrived home. Coz the fresh milk we bought last friday is left with an empty bottle. (Habis dikerjakan anak daraku berdua-makan cereal katanya!) So,I proceed to prepare the minced chicken for tomorrow's lasagna..

As for dinner last night.. it was my Super fast, Super Easy Mee Hailam. I wanted to finish off the 2 dried yee mee in stock and I fried spicy 'koey teow' for the adults at home(myself, fendi n my mum)

Mum said" bikin susah ja masak banyak2.. kan senang semua hailam.. a choice of yee mee or koey teow?" but I answered with a simple 'no'.. I want fried koey teow!

So here it is my super fast n super easy mee hailam. 1st of all, I always, always have sesame seed oil at home..be it for stir fried, sweet n sour or for marinate, I always love to have a bit of that nutty taste in my cooking.

Start with :

Garlic n shallots
Prawns + Fish Cake (U can have any other sea food.. try fresh white meat fish fillet.. it'll be nice)
Green Vege or any other vege you fancy
Eggs ( I usually allocate 1 egg for each person)
Soy sauce (I used sweet soy sauce)
1 tbs of oyster sauce
a dash or two of sesame seed oil n pepper (black or white is fine)
Water

garlic n shallots

I finely chop them - u can do anything pound it, grate it, blend it.. up to you!

my choice of seafood for my girls
green vege..

fried the garlic n shallots till fragrant and put a dash of sesame seed oil

Then add in seafood n u can also add in your vege right after that

then add the oyster sauce

add also the sweet soy sauce - depending on how salty you want your gravy to be .
Note : u can always adjust it with the water u are adding on to

Now this is how my grave look like..

After that, u bring it to a boil, then add your eggs and also a bit of pepper. And your gravy is ready.. If you like, you can slice some red chilli and garnish it on your choice of noodle. Nice...

No pictures of the dish on the plate.. Forgot to snap those..

Anyway, this recipe is only suitable for you out there who is not so 'handy'in the kitchen.. if you are an expert, you don't need my recipe la.. so do try and let me know the result!

Happy cooking!

In the Class of its OWN = Sound stupid, Look Stupid

I have always want to ensure I do not 'sound like' or obviously 'downgrading' other people, by the way they dress, the things they bought, eat or wear.

At first I just couldn't care less about what this lady have to say because everyone knows her attitude and her way of talking. She always say things that hurt people because of the famous 'downgrading'-like words. ALWAYS and ALL THE TIME! I wonder why people put up to her stunt and never give her a good 'slap' on the face.

She is one of the most active seller in our office. She have sold almost everything and all the time, stuff she sold with price that would make your eyebrow goes up like singer Ziana Zain will have a remark like
"The QUALITY is BETTER"..
"Mine is different..hence the expensive price.."
"Mine is different, its made from the BEST ingredient" attached to it.. Be it Food stuff or clothings if there are others who are selling cheaper than hers, she will claim that her stuff are of BETTER QUALITY and are the BEST!

It doesn't end there! Sometimes she will just come to you, while you  are in a crowd and say things like

"Hey! your dress a.. I have 1 like this.. I wear it as my nighties!" or

"Your blouse material is exactly the same material my mother bought for me when I was a little girl..soooo loong ago" or

"Your hijab looks like our friend's canopy's scallop"

"I saw this blouse you wear exactly like this selling at pasar malam.. 10 ringgit only!!"

If its once of twice you might have the impression that its just coincidence but when it happens everytime.. to everyone then, its time we put a stop to it. Especially when it always happen while you are among other people and she is announcing it like it should be known to the entire office..

What does she wants? what are her intention? was it a joke? I don't think so coz to me its not funny.. It's humiliating when people say the blouse you wear, is the same one she wears to sleep! what ever her intention is she should stop doing it. I can put whatever has happened behind but its not a guarantee that I will stay calm or give her a smile and laugh the next time she come up with this stupid stunt and MIND you.. she is suppose to be of a Managerial level. So do act like one..

This goes to show that people who are so called educated (has a Degree) does not necessary have the brightest BRAIN to at least STOP to THINK what are the appropriate words to use when engaging in a casual chat with friends..

Heeeeeeeeeeeeehuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.... Ok.. Calm down now Liza... yea.. not really angry tho but I do think I need to blog about this so that readers, please do not use those words that make you sound like you are of a HIGHER CLASS than other people when you dress and look nothing different than others but speaks worst than you are expected to.

Saying the Wrong words especially without even thinking it over makes you look STUPID..

The END..

Easy Grill Chicken Chop verdict =You should open a restaurant!

Well, yes, that was Yasmeen's comment when she had her dinner Saturday night = Grill Chicken chop with mushroom sauce and grilled vege (potato, tomatoes, carrots and corn on the cob). The western restaurant serves frozen breaded chicken chop deep fried and Yasmeen said it doesn't have that crispy outer skin.. and its usually oily... urghhhhh..

I would love to share my simple recipe for chicken. It works great for roasted chicken or you can jazz it up a bit and make it grill chicken chop like I did. Also, I will be sharing a recipe for a wonderful coleslaw to got with your chicken chop. But Sorry, I do not have a picture of how the coleslaw looks like.. forgot to snap lah! still working on my skill as a blogger like Puan Normaya.. :)

I like the taste of tangy lemon in my chicken. My standard recipe for merinating chicken is very simple. 1 lemon zest, joice from 1/2 lemon, ginger, garlic, I use abt 1 teaspoon of Spaghetti bolognese herbs from Masterfoods for this time I am also using some lea n perrins sauce, a bit of salt and sugar to taste.

Garlic, Lemon, Ginger

Easiest way to get all the flavour out
Lemon zest from 1 lemon
Combine all - Lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic and ginger
I use this. U can also use mixed herbs.

Lea & Perrins
I was unable to take the picture of me rubbing the 'chicken' (hahah!) with the spices la.. anyway.. I m sure u won't mind that right.. just rub the mixture all over the chicken. Since I am using debone chicken thighs, it makes it easier to absorb the flavour. Make sure u put enough salt n sugar.. and if you like it add a dash of black pepper to your chicken!

Cut chunky vege - I have potato (pre-boiled 10 minutes with skin), chunky cut carrots, cherry tomato and corn (cut into 2). Sprinkle some salt n pepper and smother some butter/margerine on the corn.

If your oven have a rotisserie, use it.... If not just arrange the chicken on top of the vege.. If you do not have an oven, pan grill with very minimum oil is fine too..

Sauces.

You will need 2 main ingredients:

1 clove of garlic,
some button fresh white mushrooms and...

A.  Brown Sauce with Mushroom = I bought this.. (Okay! okay! I cheated a bit..)  if you can't find this u can also use Maggi chicken stock (concentrated) with a dash of black pepper and some lea& perrins sauce to darken it a bit though this one taste nicer.. I bought it from Giant. I can find it on the same shelve they display other herbs and spices.

B. Ita Black Pepper Sauce with Mushroom. See Picture below.

Method:-

Very2 simple, just saute garlic till fragrant, throw in your mushroom, for the brown sauce make sure you mix the chicken gravy powder with 1 cup of hot water per instructions, for the black pepper sauce, start with the same method and pour in your black pepper sauce, mix with a bit of water and some oyster sauce if you wish so.

McCormick Chicken Gravy.. follow instruction, just mix with 1 cup of hot water.
Caution: If you bring it to a simmer, it will thicken so, u need to add a bit more water

I used Ita - Peppery mushroom sauce. Actually any black pepper sauce will do just fine.
For our black pepper sauce,  I sauté some dices onions

Basically this is how my chicken grave looks like when its done..
Again, I don't have the pic of my black pepper sauce.. sorry a..

Recipe for my simple coleslaw :

Cabbage - finely chopped, carrot (I use a grater) and about 8 slices of pickled - finely diced  (those sour-y green thigy u have on your Mc Donalds beefburger- in case u are wondering), some coleslaw dressing or plain mayonaise will do just fine with some salt and pepper to taste! Mix! Mix! Mix! and chill in the refregerator before serving!

How I can I not have the pictures of the end result rite??!

Here's a picture of Yasmeen with her kiddy meal. (Kiddy meal - no coleslaw)

Here's a picture of our meal.. Complete with the wholesome coleslaw.. Fendi continues eating the coleslaw alone the next day.. That shows how nice the coleslaw with some secret recipe - not so secret anymore (pickled zuchini)

Owh, btw, I got this my chicken supply from my office friend. She is selling RM14-2kg of chicken. Really cheap ay? Thanks Rahimah.. if you guys are anywhere near, and need fresh chicken supply.. I can recommend my friend to you.. that price is for any other cut part as well ( breast, wings, drumstick w bone.)

Try out my recipe and tell me how it goes!

The Memories Remains

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHvhz4gfgJI
I can see the sadness in your eyes and every tear drop that you cry, I hope you know, Its hard to let you go..
The time is here I have to say goodbye, I lead my life, I've seen the light,
I hope you know its hard to let you go..
I swear to be the shadow by your side, to be the shining star to light the darkness of your night, I will survive..
In the end, as I cross the Line of life and then I find my way back in your heart again
And I promise I will stay forever end of days.. The Memories REMAIN...

Wonder why my postings today are all about songs.. I love listening to good songs and I think everyone knows I love singing. I have not been doing it since like what.. 9 years but did it about once or twice in a small crowd la.. no more tv shows, no more competition.. sudah tua la.. hahaha

When I listen to this song.. it reminds me of.. ME.. suddenly the faces of my children, my husband, my mother, arwah my dad, my brothers, the whole chapter of life like a movie playing in front of my eyes. Well, I think every now and then that will happen to all right.

Sometimes songs reminds us of other people. I remember my sister in law said to me (in an fb message) 'Always, when a relationship doesn't work out, it affects other family members as well'. Its very hard to find an ended relationship turns into friendship.

This song particularly, reminds me of the people (not blood related family ya..) who came into my life, helped me, people I love and are like sisters to me. It hurts to see them hurt, It hurts just to think that I could not do anything to make their wound any better, It hurts to see and hear them crying.

During my most embarrassing moment, when i was most weak and helpless, I couldn't sit let alone walk, They kept me accompany. When I cried, they wiped my tears.. and I am so sorry that I am unable to do the same when they needed.

For as long as we are alive, We will be hurt by something, in one way or another, but be reminded that we should always count our blessings, to know that we have met and know other person during a (unsuccessful) relationship, to know that there are kind soul that we love who cared about us more than we think we know. The end of a relationship doesn't mean its the end of the world. It only means that it is a beginning of a whole new you.

I can only pray and hope that thins are getting better and will be much better for all of you I regard as sister. I love you very much and I only want to know that you are doing well and to let you know that I never wish to end our relationship as sisters. I appreciate you as who you are and I want you to know that I will always be there for you, no matter what.

Remember, while we plan do something with our lives, Allah has a better plan for us.. and when things doesn't turn out to be the way we want it to be,its not that we do not deserve it but its because we deserve BETTER.. and the Best is yet to come..

I love you 'SISTERS' .. you know who you are... :)

Listen to the Melody.. coz my love is in there HIDING..

For the last 2 months, I have been checking out this brother-sister group "The Carpenters", the legandary artist in the 70's. You may be interested to read more (take it as I am so lazy to write it all here) at this website http://www.classicbands.com/carpenters.html and check out this video documentary from BBC "Living Famously-Karen Carpenter" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq7MqlITUB0&feature=related there is also a movie about Karen Carpenter's famous but 'short' life.

From what I have gathered from Youtube, analysing the lyrics and listening to her songs with heart. I can sense and I think it is correct to say that she wanted her parent's attention so so much. It may be just her playing with her own emotions and feeling left out in the family and the songs.. the way she sings it.. It was like soooo kesian.. I remember a friend once told me, NEVER treat your children differently, if you so happen have 3, the 2nd child will usually be left out because, you would want to give more attention to the eldest and the youngest and forget all about the middle. I always keep that in mind and as much as possible I always want my girls to feel and know that they are treated equally.. sometimes, I may not have the capability, sometimes I do take things for granted (like for example, I used to bathe Yasmeen and prepare her to school since kindy to primary 2 but Sarah, I already expect her to bathe her own @ the age of 5) I sometimes feel bad and I will whenever I can bathe her in the morning. Its not so big deal actually la... just bathing right?! hehehe

I also notice myself giving less attention to Sarah at the moment, considering the fact that she is really doing very well, alhamdulillah. She can write her own name.. she can write MARINA's name (she don't remember how to write my name okay...) and she is far far more independent than Yasmeen. She loves to help without me asking, if she sees us cleaning the house she will do something to help. She is a good helper. Yasmeen, well, you will need to ask but she will not hesitate to help. Usually she won't delay helping.. she will only delay doing homework! hahahah

OK.. back to the Carpenters... Karen feels that she is not good enough for her mum and dad.. especially the mum.. She always wanted to be like her brother because she knows her mother loves him more than her. She would give up anything just to get her mother's attention, the last thing a person like this could handle is criticism especially on her appearance. When the media wrote about her looking chubby, to her its a BIG issue and she started to refuse to eat. Its an eating disorder but it derives from psychology problems she's facing in comforting herself, convincing herself that her parents love her, and for that she wants to look the best.

If you listen to her songs like 'Close to you' its like a song sang for Richard, her brother. But it is also how she feels about her brother. She is very close to her and to her the only way to get the love she wanted from her parents is to be Richard.

I personally thinks this song is how she really feel.. and its like I'm telling you mom.. I'm telling you but I wonder why her mum never notice this..

Lyrics of A song for you:-

I've been so many places in my life in time.. I've sung a lot of song I've made some bad rhymes, I've acted out my love in stages, with 10 thousand people watching, But we're alone now and I singing a song for you.

I know your image of me is what i hope to be I've treated you unkindly but can't U see. Theres no one more important to me Darling can't U please see through me, we're alone now and I singing a song for you.

You thought me precious secret of a truth withholding nothing, you came out in front and I was hiding. But now I'm so much better and If my words don't come together, listen to the melody coz my love is in there hiding.. I love U in a place where there's no space the time.. I love U for my life you are the friend of mine, And when my life is over, remember when we were together.. We were alone and I was singing a song for you..

Listen to the song.. here..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UziGwZBvth0&feature=related

There are so many other really2 good songs, The Masquerade, Superstar, Rainydays and Mondays, Yesterday once more.. all and all are like Karen Carpenter singing her life story to people out there. Well, I know there is other things that is worth sharing with you all more than this but this is real life story and lesson to us the parents to love our children all the same and appreciate them individually for who they are.. Remember.. all different angels, different shape, different colours all those different characteristic forms a wonderful canvas called FAMILY.. Appreciate it!

Visit to Rumah Nur Salam

Latest project of Gift of Love is a Charity Sale organized by KL Sogo-Straz Studio on the 30th April 2011. One of our GOL rule is to provide basic information of the individual or charity home we are planning to help. Fulfilling this need of the rules and regulations, myself and Mimi Pillai together with Carol Lee of Starz Studio went personally to Rumah Nur Salam on 31st April 2011. At first I thought that Rumah Nur Salam was the one we could see from the street with a Big Banner sponsored by Al-Rajhi Bank named Rumah Baitul Amal. Myself and Mimi were there early so I said, "Why not we just go up and ask if this really is the place?". A man answered the door informed us that this is not Rumah Nur Salam, the one we are looking for is in a shoplot along the street near Hong Leong Bank and 7-Eleven, after a stretch of 'warung', above a shop selling shoes.. Ah...  I think I know the place. So we walk there.. well, its only a few mile away.. no cab is gonna wanna send us there.

I took a picture from the main entrance of the place. It is called Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-Kanak Chow Kit. Again, we are not allowed to take pictures of the children in PAKK and I avoid also taking pictures of the centre as I do not want to suddenly be in trouble in case if I accidentally publish any sensitive pictures. Just being cautious here

About 20 minutes later, Carol Lee came and the 3 of us went straight up. We were greeted by En. Hasrul Hasli, the Children Coordinator.

This centre was previously run by Yayasan Salam but effective 1st March 2011 they are officially out from Yayasan Nur Salam and created their own foundation registered Yayasan Chow Kit. There are 3 centres altogether. All 3 is under different management/coordinator. Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-Kanak (PAKK) receives children aged 5-12 years old. Primary school age. Rumah Baitul Amal is for babies upto 4 years and another activity centre for teenager 13 and above called Krash Pad.

Our Charity Sale will be for PAKK. The first impression of PAKK.. very well maintained, neat and tidy, impressively almost perfect and comfy. The 1st floor of PAKK is the 'Play and Learn' area - sponsored by EMKAY, a pantry and the management and Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat officer's workplace.

En. Hasrul Hasli informed us that this centre has so far accepted 391 children, 21 of them are staying premanent in the hostel on level 2 while the rest comes over to the centre for their daily activity. Some of them have no proper documentation so they learn in the centre which received educators and voulenteers from the public. A few of them who stays there goes to normal primary school and are fetch to and fro by the the PAKK tranportation. Inmates stays there without their parents and parents are only allowed to visit them with supervision. Some of the children has court case going on thus visitors are not allowed to publish their pictures or their details for safety purposes.

JKM paid the monthly electricity and water bills only for level 1. For level 2 (Hostel) and Level 3 (Learning centre, classes), PAKK will have to pay their own. The reason is because, JKM only pays expenses that directly related to them, in this case, level 1 place the office of JKM officers.

Lunch is provided for the 21 children living in the centre, while dinner will be prepared for all. (living in as well as those who came daily) 21 children who lived in the centre are monitored 24 hours and they have a security guard (lady) in charge @ the entrance which is also kept locked 24 hours. Their lunch are sponsored by Yayasan Zikay everyday while dinner is sometimes sponsored by some individual but at times, PAKK will have to use their petty cash money when there are not sponsorship from individual or companies. To anyone who wish to sponsor dinner/lunch or anything, you will first have to get in touch with En. Hasrul Hasli and arrange with his team. Asked, how much do they need for dinner everyday, En. Hasrul hasli informed us that they need RM300.00 daily.

One of the most needed things in PAKK is medicine such as fever medicine for children, cough mixture, cool fever and things like soap, detergent, shampoo, foods like biscuits, sugar, tea and so on. They are not allowed to cook so no gas stove in the centre. I suppose, an induction cooker wil be useful but then again that will be something too luxurious. They have a microwave on the 1st floor i think.

There are 7 caretaker who works on shift everyday and in charge of all 391 (maximum) children during the day and 21 at night.

We were then taken to the 2nd floor of PAKK which is the hostel and the activity area of PAKK. We were greeted by all the children queing up to shake our hands actually, they kissed our hands.. I'm touched! We were informed that they used to have a few double decks sponsored by IKEA but the children refused to sleep on the bed and on a few occassion one of them fell from the top deck when they finally decided to dismantle the beds and let the children sleep on the floor with comforter. The activity area is a wide air conditioned area with a shelf and a table on the side and a 2 door refrigerator. At night, the activity area becomes the sleeping area for the boys. They are sharing 1 bathroom and they also have a washing machine. We were shown to the large build-in cupboard sponsored by some individual which came 2-3 weeks ago. They have a proper place to keep the children's clothes and comforter. Everything seems to be proper and comfortable here.

3rd floor is the learning area. They have a 2 class rooms with a total of 43 children, 1 for the kindy, 1 for primary and another one is the audio visual room. The audio visual room is very impressive... sponsored by Maxis so.. u can almost imagine.. nice computers I think there's about 10 dell pc's and an Apple Mac machine, a projector and a large screen, a white board in an air conditioned room. The 3rd floor rental is sponsored by Standard Chartered bank. The children are promised a twice a year trip as a part of their incentive to diligently attend the activities and classes at PAKK.

So, all I have to say is this centre is very very well maintained. It has quite a number of big sponsors for their equipment such as pc, cupboard, learning equipments and all but it is easier said, it is easier see then done, running a centre with 391 children is not an easy task. And the amount of money used is also not small. While in actual fact they are quite well off, we could chip in to make it better especially in terms of daily used items.

Additional information for the Charity Sale is that we will be contributing the items they have listed for us. Organizers will NOT be contributing cash.
